Frequently asked questions

What makes Private Pilates San Diego different?

A truly personalized approach designed to make the most of your time and efforts. Every session is thoughtfully planned in advance, tailored to your body’s needs, and rooted in women’s health expertise. Our fully equipped studio features premium Balanced Body equipment, allowing you to experience the complete Pilates system—not just Mat and Reformer. Set in a serene, spa-like space, each session is entirely private, offering a refined and immersive experience designed just for you.

I’ve never done Pilates before. Is this right for me?

Absolutely. Pilates with us is one of the best things you can do for your body—whether you’re a complete beginner or have years of experience. You’ll build strength, balance, and confidence in your movement with a fully tailored approach and undivided attention. Even if your goal is to join group classes elsewhere eventually, we highly recommend starting with 3–5 private sessions to establish a strong foundation. If you're looking for an excellent studio for group classes in the future, we’re happy to provide recommendations.

What should I expect in my first session?

Your first session begins with a conversation about your health, movement history, and goals, followed by a postural assessment to understand your body’s unique needs. There’s no need to be nervous—this isn’t a test, just a way to gain valuable insights that allow us to design the most effective, personalized sessions for you. From there, we’ll move into your first Pilates session, setting the foundation for strength, balance, and progress.

I am in physical therapy, so can I still come?

Yes, Pilates can be an excellent complement to physical therapy. If you're currently in PT, we recommend speaking with your therapist about incorporating Pilates into your routine. With your permission, we will connect with your PT to ensure our sessions align with their program, supporting your recovery in the best way possible. We see ourselves as part of your wellness team, working together to help you heal safely and effectively.

What should I wear?

Wear what makes you feel comfortable, but for the best experience, we recommend form-fitting attire like leggings and a fitted top. This allows for precise movement and alignment cues. Grip socks are also required for stability and hygiene—please bring a pair to your session.

What is your cancellation policy?

To respect everyone’s time, we require 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Sessions canceled within 24 hours will be charged in full.

How often should I do Pilates?

Consistency is key for optimal results. Two to three sessions per week are ideal for building strength, improving mobility, and seeing lasting progress. However, even once a week can make a noticeable difference, and we tailor scheduling to fit your lifestyle.

How soon can I start Pilates after giving birth?

Every postpartum journey is unique, and it’s essential to be cleared by your doctor before returning to exercise. Most women can start gentle movement around 6 weeks postpartum, but this varies depending on your delivery and recovery. Once cleared, we tailor sessions to help you safely rebuild strength, restore core function, and support your body through this transition.
